Artist Statement
I create surreal worlds and macabre storybook-like illustrations with paint, collage, and mixed media. My sources lie within mythology, metaphysics, and dreams. The subject matter is rendered in high contrast and bold colors, allowing the work to simultaneously exist as grotesque and beautiful. Influences from my experience in the world result in cultural, historical and allegorical iconography that conveys subversive social commentary. However, the absurdity of the work lets viewers create their own stories.
